Artwork by Dean Eisen, Watercolor Academy student
The background for this painting was a basic wash using Transparent Pyroll Orrange (PO 78) on half sheet. The wash was part of my assignment. After submitting the wash for evaluation, I then glazed over the wash using Pyroll Red (PR254), Quinacridone Sienna, and Indian Yellow. The sun was done using the lifting out technique. Once dried the mountains were painted using alizarin crimson. The foreground, cowboy and horses were then added using raw umber. The finished painting was trimmed to 20x10 inches.
