Hello. My name is Nick Conkle. I am a retired Chemical Engineer from Columbus, Ohio (USA). I have been creating art since I was a teenager. I used my artistic talents in my professional work, including photography and graphical design.

I have been doing digital art using a Wacom graphing monitor for the last 10 years including abstracts, landscapes, and wildlife scenes, as well as illustrating three children books. In 2021, I visited the U S Virgin Islands and upon my return I used watercolors to paint a "palm tree at the sea" image based on my photograph. I base almost all my art on my photographs or "free" reference images from various sites. I have painted dozens of watercolors of animals, flowers, and nature scenes, based on what I learned by participating in several David K Rogers' paint-along video lessons. I have sold both originals as well as signed prints.

In the Watercolor Academy course, I have learned more about color theory and the alla prima painting techniques. I would love to learn to be more creative, i.e., less reliant on reference images, and how to compose compelling (and commercial) paintings.
