A surge in progress with Watercolor Academy tutoring

I came into painting at a relatively advanced age, when my wife gave me a 'starter' watercolour kit. I sat through a few lessons, but work got in the way of creativity, so I continued as a self taught painter. Unsurprisingly, I was producing variable results, never happy with any piece of work, at best liking parts, never achieving what I had in mind. The gaps in my knowledge and technique had more holes than a Swiss cheese, so it was inevitable that I would reach a plateau, where progress stopped and frustration kicked in. I was genuinely on the verge of quitting, then I saw a link for the Watercolour Academy which piqued my interest. Having looked at the content and philosophy, I decided to enroll, which artistically was the best decision. Being detail oriented, I am a retired High School Maths teacher, the depth of theory was fascinating, and made sense of decisions we make as artists, to take our work to the next level.

The Watercolor Academy course is extremely well structured, based on the needs of the individual, understanding that we all learn in different ways and at different pace, with outstanding resources, and extremely prompt and supportive responses, you cannot fail to make incredible progress and become the best artist that you can possibly be.

Recently, during the Monochrome task, things just 'clicked' for me. Knowledge and technique learned on the course suddenly kicked in, and I started to think and approach painting in a much more painterly way, and since then I feel that I am now experiencing a surge in progress, consistency and confidence, actually liking what I am producing.
