I am entering this competition because I would like to pursue studies in watercolor painting. Since I have retired, I am able to take the time to observe, study and paint. I fell in love with the visual arts in my late teens. I lived in New York City, which had a vibrant, growing art scene when I was younger. I first took up painting in college, but due to financial restraints, was unable to continue on to graduate studies. Life has taken me back to school and various graduate degrees, but never for the visual arts.

There are few places for a person my age to seek professional training now. I have turned to the internet for instruction, which is where I discovered your courses. It can be difficult to find quality online instruction, so I was happy to discover Watercolor Academy.

Over the years I have always kept up my painting practice, but practice without feedback can be less than optimal. I would like to become a student of the Watercolor Academy, and finally devote my time to fully engaging in the visual arts which I enjoy so much. I feel very strongly that learning is, and should be, a lifetime persuit, and would be pleased if viewers voted for me.
