I Love Watercolor
Story and artwork from Susan
I aspire to be a professional Fine Artist. My love of drawing and painting started at a very young age. As a child I suffered several setbacks including the loss of my parents at the age of 10, resulting in three years of foster care. As a form of escapism I began to draw and paint in watercolor. It helped me, somewhat like a personal therapy.
I have many great memories of receiving art and drawing books and creating drawings for them. As a teenager I began to discover classical drawing, and improved my techniques and abilities, somewhat surprisingly achieving high grades in academical Art classes, of which were far from encouraging classical approaches.
I left school and stopped drawing in pursuit of a paying career, but after health issues left my career plans in ruins I began to draw again. And as a result, I decided I would attempt to make a career of it. I don't believe my skills are on a professional level quite yet, But with the help of courses like Watercolor Academy, I believe I can make it, and achieve a career I am proud and passionate about.
