Watercolor artwork and story by Jennifer Ault
Story and artwork from Jennifer Ault
I am a practicing artist and trained secondary school art teacher who is currently teaching adults online and in real life in a range of media; watercolour being one of them. I have always drawn and painted and took my BA (hons) at Reading University after which I trained as a secondary school teacher after holding two artist residencies in schools. After teaching in schools for over 15 years I decided to take my MA in Fine Art. This I completed with The Open College Of The Arts successfully. This experience made me even more determined to practice, exhibit and sell my own art.
My teaching of adults includes watercolour and I felt that I personally still had a lot to learn about the medium. I love it's translucent qualities and the accidental effects that can occur.
I also recognise the importance of learning to use the medium in logical sequence of learning. This is why I would love to challenge myself by under taking a course myself; informing my teaching further.
I particularly want to explore the creation of the illusion of space and form in watercolour.
Watercolor Academy is an excellent idea for studying watercolour as a complete painting course providing a thorough grounding in this compelling medium. I would feel so happy to win as I know it would give me the opportunity to share what I learn with my own students.
