Abstract Artist - Artwork and story by Millie Griffiths

I am an abstract painter working and studying in London. I attend Camberwell college of arts Ual. My art comprises 3 themes: time, memory and psychology. I work in acrylic or watercolour and set out to create balanced compositions fuelled with colour and charged with energy. I work in a gestural way.

I have participated in the Talented Art Fair in Brighton and have been featured in two magazines: 'Knightsbridge magazine and 'Intelligent magazine' as well as 2 charity events: one at NPH where I sold a painting at auction and another as an ambassador of the secret art campaign at 'We Restart'.

I include figuration within my abstract paintings. Compared to my completely abstract works, I find that this style is in many ways more thought provoking. I find you can create your own form of a narrative from simply investigating in the meaning of the figures. By relating to the painting, or by finding the expression on the faces and connection within the figures interesting, my aim is for my paintings to simply entrance and encourage the spectator to spend time with the work.

I want to win the Watercolor Academy course as it is a great ambition of mine to get my art seen to a larger audience. In particular my watercolour paintings as they are less known to my acrylic paintings.
