I have enjoyed creating art since I was very young. My mother and my grandmother were both amateur artists so we were constantly creating in my family. I took my first art classes in high school. I grew up in Colorado and later went to college in Oklahoma at Oral Roberts University where I minored in Fine Arts. I traveled with a music ministry and when I married, my husband and I lived in British Columbia, Canada before returning to Oklahoma. We have also lived in the US states of Washington, Iowa, Indiana and are now living in Eastern Tennessee. We have also traveled and spent time in almost every US state and most of the Canadian provinces. I also spent a summer in Trinidad and Tobago. Every place I've been has left a bit of itself in my art.

I am a believer in Jesus Christ as my savior and this fact informs my artwork in every way. Watercolors came into my life through my first experience with breast cancer. Our local cancer center offered a class in watercolors as part of our recovery experience. The leader was a retired teacher and he led us in learning many techniques for our art. During this time, art became one of my two favorite ways to express myself. (I also am a writer.) Art has helped me to express the beauty I see in life.

My challenge in art is to constantly improve my abilities and grow as an artist. I want to learn as many techniques and improve my abilities. What I have seen in Watercolor Academy intrigues me and challenges me. That is the reason I want to win the Watercolor Academy scholarship. I would like people to vote for me because my art enriches their life and touches their spirit.
