Watercolor painting teaches me patience

My name is Katherine Snyder. I am a self-taught watercolorist. I love the process of painting, which helps me focus on the beauty in ordinary life. When I don't paint, I miss a profound part of myself. Painting is life-giving for me. When I paint, I come into a quiet place within myself. It is part of whom I am meant to be. It is a process of discovery, and it always takes courage to face the empty page.
But there are also many challenges. Watercolor painting teaches me patience. I must wait for that first wash to dry. It shows me that less is more and when to stop. It helps me to value my creativity and overcome the inner critic. It combines learning the craft and allowing the medium's voice to speak for itself. It shows me that mistakes can be beautiful. It helps me not be a perfectionist. It teaches me to enjoy others' art and not compare. The process is like life; I must prepare and learn techniques but also let go of control. It enables me to value the process, not just the product.
I want to learn more about composition, painting cityscapes and landscapes, and still-life design and develop my gift. I want to study with Watercolor Academy because I have learned as much as possible on my own, and I value the excellent instruction and personal support the course offers. I want to grow and not be stuck, and I need help. Watercolor Academy will provide the tools and resources to realize the artist within. Please vote for me and open the door to take the next step in my journey.
