My name is Okello Okun Ben Oruni. I am 41 years old and an artist. I obtained my Master of Arts in Fine Arts from Makerere University, Uganda, in 2024. I obtained a Bachelor of Arts (General) from the University of Juba, South Sudan, in 2014. I have been painting for the last 20 years or more. Art is part of my life, I can not live without doing art daily. However, I face numerous challenges, ranging from the materials and the artwork market. In my country, there is no single gallery where we can showcase our artwork. The political instability is to blame for this uncertainty. Most importantly, the techniques of watercolour are what I am lacking.
I am interested in learning the different techniques of watercolour painting such that I can elevate my paintings to a masterpiece.
It is my submission that, Watercolor Academy is the solution to my problems in watercolour painting. I want to win because the story about my artwork is clear and simplified. It reflects the situation where I was brought up as a refugee child in Uganda. I want people to vote for me because of the engaging story of the artwork.
I want to win this Competition and I need your help!
