Art has always been a place where I can truly understand myself. Growing up between two cultures—born in the United States and raised in Oxfordshire, England—I often felt like I didn't fully belong in one place. Art became my way of expressing those feelings without needing to explain them. It allows me to slow down, observe the world, and turn emotions into something visible.

In my life, art is both an escape and a form of connection. When I paint, especially with watercolor, I feel present and focused. I enjoy the softness and unpredictability of the medium. Watching colors blend and flow feels almost calming, like the painting is guiding me as much as I am guiding it.

However, I do face challenges. Confidence is one of my biggest struggles. I often question whether my work is strong enough or if I am capturing what I truly see. Watercolor can also be difficult to control, and learning when to guide it and when to let go has been a challenge for me. Mistakes can feel discouraging, but I am learning to see them as part of the process.

I want to improve my understanding of color, light, and composition. I also want to develop more confidence in my artistic decisions and learn how to create pieces that feel more expressive and complete.

Watercolor Academy feels like an incredible opportunity to grow. I believe it would give me the guidance and structure I need to improve my skills and push beyond my current limits.
