Valley of Mysteries

I am a 72-year-old retiree. Painting is one of my hobbies. I paint purely for pleasure. My original profession was teaching.

I taught earth science courses at community colleges and universities.

I was passionate about hiking in the mountains. I sought out places where I could find unique atmospheres. I photographed and sketched what I saw.

This painting was created at the bottom of a ravine. For 28 years, I visited the valley every year. It always revealed a different face.

It was always mysterious. I condensed these experiences into this painting. I've been interested in painting for decades. I'm mostly self-taught. I still want to learn more.
